This year’s edition is part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the JK Opole Theatre.
From March 21st to 23rd, the JK Opole Theatre will once again host its annual Showcase. This year’s edition is particularly special as it coincides with the theatre’s 50th anniversary. The program includes a selection of recent premieres from Opole—featuring three major productions alongside a work by a promising young director. These performances, made accessible to an international audience with English subtitles, will be accompanied by guest productions and a jazz concert.
The Showcase is a possibility to experience the repertoire of the JK Opole Theatre over three days, as well as to see exclusive, guest performances from specially invited productions.
The program includes two of the theatre’s latest premieres: Top Dog, directed by Marcin Liber, a stage adaptation of the cult Polish film and screenplay by Feliks Falk, exploring the highs and lows of the pursuit of success; and IT-1, directed by Wera Makowskx, which examines human relationships in the context of artificial intelligence.
Additionally, the Showcase will present outstanding productions from previous years, including The Tempest. Island Regulations, inspired by William Shakespeare and directed by Katarzyna Minkowska, which won the Golden Yorick Award at the Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival, as well as I’m Nowhere / Desvanecimiento, an international co-production directed by Norbert Rakowski that delves into the theme of euthanasia.
This year’s edition will also feature the Italian production MADRE (MOTHER), created and performed by Marco Martinelli, Ermanna Montanari, Stefano Ricci, and Daniela Roccato from Albe/Ravenna Teatro, along with III Symfonia, a choreographic work by Janusz Orlik set to the music of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.
Complementing the theatre program will be a jazz guitar concert byPaweł Krawiec Trio.
Join us for a few unforgettable days at the JK Opole Theatre!

SIDE EVENTS
Paweł krawiec | jazz guitar trio
CONCERT | 22 March (Saturday) at 9:00 PM Small Stage
Paweł Krawiec – Electric Guitar Jakub Kozłowski – Double Bass Gabriel Antoniak – Drums
Jazz Guitar Trio performing original compositions by the leader as well as jazz standards. Their wild, expressive playing style, virtuosity of all musicians, and developed collective sound electrify from the first notes. The band is an extremely fresh proposition in the context of a guitar trio. They do not limit themselves to musical techniques only from the world of jazz. Rock and roll wildness and spontaneity accompany their music all the time.
The lineup consists of outstanding young Polish musicians, awarded in competitions, recording albums, and performing concerts both in the country and abroad.
MEET THE ARTISTS
Audiences are invited to talks with the creators after the performance “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” | 2.03 (Saturday).
Agata Nowosielska – WSZYSTKIE ZAKAZANE POKOJE (en. ALL THE FORBIDDEN ROOMS)
Main Hall, GSW Gallery
Curator: Matylda Prus GSW collaboration: Marta Miś
An exhibition presenting the latest series of paintings by Agata Nowosielska, one of the most intriguing Polish painters. In this series, the artist revisits her complex family history, using personal experiences to address universal and still relevant themes. As the artist herself states: “This exhibition is about memories, unspoken injustices, the strength of women, and the cruelty of wars.”
From 20nd to 23rd March FREE ADMISSION for Showcase participants upon presentation of pass or event badge.
Jarek Kajdana – SAYA NO UCHI: What Do You Know About Japan?
ANEKS GSW Gallery
Curator: Łukasz Kropiowski
For this exhibition, the artist has chosen a set of Japanese-inspired motifs as his central theme. Given that he has never been to Japan—having neither conducted field research nor even experienced “Japaneseness” as a tourist—this might seem rather inappropriate. However, it is worth noting that while Kajdana has never visited Japan, Japan has been visiting Kajdana for many years.
This exhibition is a form of recognition awarded to the artist by the GSW curatorial team during the Spring Salon 2024.
From 20nd to 23rd March FREE ADMISSION for Showcase participants upon presentation of pass or event badge.
