FACULTY OF DANCE THEATRE IN BYTOM
The youngest branch of the National Academy of Theatre Arts in Cracow, the Faculty of Dance Theatre has trained students and graduates in the specialization of dance theatre acting since its foundation. Its training is rooted in the classical understanding of dance theatre, derived from the German Tanztheater tradition. Building on these foundations, the faculty boldly explores contemporary forms of dance theatre that challenge conventional frameworks and resist precise definition.

Institute of Choreography and Dance Techniques, Academy of Music in Łódź
The possibility of studying dance and choreography at the Academy of Music in Łódź has existed since 2007. The Institute of Choreography and Dance Techniques is headed by Dr. hab. Jacek Owczarek, prof. AM, who was also one of the initiators of the establishment of dance studies at the Łódź Academy.
Students at the Institute develop their knowledge and skills under the guidance of an academic staff composed of artists and recognized specialists in both the theory and practice of dance. The offered educational system is built on three key pillars - profiles: dancer, choreographer, and social/health-oriented profile.
Studies at the Institute are offered in both full-time and part-time modes, in the following specializations:
- Choreography and Dance Techniques (Bachelor’s level),
- Choreography (Master’s level),
- Somatics in Dance and Therapy (Master’s level).
It is also possible to obtain pedagogical qualifications through parallel studies at the Pedagogical Program (Bachelor’s and Master’s levels).
Thanks to the Institute’s partnerships with other institutions—such as the Regional Centre for Research and Development, AWF Biała Podlaska, the Faculty of Visual Arts, Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, activities within the Art Spaces program, and collaboration with other departments and faculties of the Łódź Academy of Music—students annually participate in specialized psychomotor research. They also have opportunities to expand their skills and gain practical experience through additional workshop sessions and artistic projects.
The Institute also hosts the Artistic and Academic Circle of Choreography and Dance Techniques, whose members regularly organize artistic and educational events, including improvisation jams, workshops with guest artists, open choreographic showcases, and discussion panels.
